New Year's Eve in Yucaipa

Wednesday night we move from 2008 to 2009, and there are lots of ways to celebrate. You can gather together with your family and friends or you can go out for an end-of-the-year party. Casual or dressy, loud music or quiet cheer, there is something for everyone.

Below I've listed a few of the local options for live music on New Year's Eve. There are fewer than I expected that I could find details for so I went a bit further afield than Yucaipa - feel free to add more listings in the comments.

Events for December 31, 2008

• Angel's Roadhouse (32464 Dunlap Blvd.): New Year's Eve Bash featuring The 44's with Weeping Willow, Dug, 21+, $15 at the door or $10 with discount ticket. Price includes buffet, champagne toast and party favors.
  
• Shorter's (34536 Yucaipa Blvd.): New Year's Eve party featuring music by Massey Brothers and Baby Jane (formerly known as Daisy Cutter), 21+
• Diamond Jim's Opera House/Mill Creek Cattle Co. (1875 Mentone Blvd. in Mentone): New Year's Eve party with music by UndercoveR. $75, including full dinner, party favors and champagne.
• The Vault (14 E. Vine St., Redlands): New Year's Eve extravaganza with music by Rolling Reunion and an appearance by Mother Jones.
• Rock N' Saddle (1327 West Colton Ave., Redlands): Elegant New Year's Eve bash with music by DJ Cre-8, $50. 18+. Price includes red carpet entry with a photo taken, free hors d'oeuvres, and a glass of champagne/sparkling cider.

Yucaipa Music & Nightlife: December 12-18

There's lots to do this weekend!

Saturday is the annual Yucaipa Christmas Parade. It starts on California street at noon, and will head down Yucaipa Boulevard to City Hall. Santa will be on the last float.

Saturday is also Operation Santa Claus, run by the Yucaipa Police Department. Kids are welcome at any of five locations to meet Santa and receive candy from the PD's float (I guess no tossed candy during the parade this year).

• 6:00 PM at Von's Parking Lot
• 6:45 PM at the Bryant & Oak Glen Road Stater Bros.
• 7:30 PM at Sail Drug
• 8:15 PM at the County Line Road 99cent Store parking lot.

The VFW (12235 California St.) will hold it's annual party for children immediately after the parade. Santa will appear at 3pm. The pulic is welcome.

Yucaipa Music & Nightlife: November 14-20

Wow, third week of November already. There's not too much going on this weekend, but now is also the time to purchase tickets for events in December - Christmas events are already starting to sell out!

And on a serious note, there are lots of people in our area who could use a helping hand. KFROG and Stater Bros. have teamed up for a holiday food drive. You can drop off canned food donations inside the Stater Bros. on Bryant or Yucaipa Blvd through November 26th. KFROG will be on-site of the Stater Bros. on Bryant on Wednesday, November 19th from 11am-2pm. There will also be a food drive for the I.E. Needy at Angel's Roadhouse on Saturday, November 15th from noon-3pm.

Yucaipa Music & Nightlife: October 24-30

So, last weekend we headed out to the Live Oak Canyon Pumpkin Patch, and it's well worth the trip if you are willing to battle the traffic jam at the Oak Glen/I-10 interchange. They have great bands playing in the afternoons, the seating is in the shade, and you can even bring a picnic. Can't beat that for free.

Also if apples are your thing, there is still fruit to be picked up in Oak Glen. The Riley's Farm newsletter also says:

As always, in October, we have great music with the Bost Family Traditions singing gospel and bluegrass in the Packing Shed and House & von Arx providing classical and folk in the Colonial Public house.

So get out and enjoy some music this weekend!
