Holiday Contests

If you need a bit of competition to get you into the holiday spirit, here are a couple around town:

• The Yucaipa Valley Chamber of Commerce and the Yucaipa-Calimesa News Mirror are sponsoring a Christmas decoration contest. Categories are:

• Mobile Home Greetings
• Spirit of the Season (religious)
• Whimsical Moments (non-religious)
• Glow of Christmas (lots of lights)

Call 790-1841 by December 15 and leave your name, address, phone number and contest category. Judging is the night of December 16th and photos of the winning entries will be published in the News Mirror December 21st.

• The Yucaipa Branch Library has a wreath contest. There are three categories:

• Traditional (natural greens or other dried natural materials)
• Original (handcrafted or homemade materials)
• Whimsical (any materials assembled with "humor, imagination and holiday spirit")

Adults, teens and kids will be judged separately. Submit your wreath for display any time from Monday, Dec. 4 to Tuesday, Dec. 18. Winners will be announced on the 18th.
